Childcare Funding

The funds for the childcare program come from an appropriation from the North Carolina General Assembly. The program is designed to assist student-parents attending community colleges throughout North Carolina. This is a block fund which means each community college is allotted a certain portion of the total appropriation. This is a limited fund and therefore not all applicants will receive assistance. If you are interested in applying for funds, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 828-395-1434.

Childcare Funding Application

Student parents accepted to the program will choose a licensed childcare facility or other childcare provider and must sign an agreement with the provider. Isothermal’s role in this selection is limited to providing financial assistance only. Childcare funding payments will not be made to any member of the student’s household.

To remain eligible for childcare funds a student should do the following:

  • Complete a Childcare Funding Application
  • Upon acceptance, select a childcare provider.
  • Sign a Contract of Agreement to comply with terms of assistance with the childcare provider.
  • Furnish your childcare provider with a Childcare Invoice/Attendance Report and return the completed form to the Isothermal childcare coordinator each month.
  • Request verification of student attendance from faculty for each enrolled course (using supplied form or by email) and return to the Isothermal childcare coordinator each month.
  • Register for a minimum of six (6) semester hours in a curriculum program each semester.
  • Adhere to the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy required by Isothermal Community College (minimum GPA of 2.0).
