We Read

We Read is a family literacy program. Parents, or caregivers, attend We Read group meetings with their children ages birth through elementary age; older siblings are welcome to participate. We Read groups meet at community locations throughout Rutherford and Polk County. We Read groups meet one time per week for approximately one and a half hours.

During We Read group meetings, families engage in fun simple activities to build a love for reading together. Participating families receive a new high quality children’s book and simple craft supplies to take home and keep each meeting.

Adults have the opportunity to participate in adult education programs to improve English language skills, build reading skills, complete high school, and earn a certificate or degree.

The We Read program is offered for no cost to participating families and is supported through a generous grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
