Office of Financial Aid

The mission of the Financial Aid Office is to support the learning college environment through the provision of services that are timely, user-friendly, accessible, and designed to support student learning. Students are encouraged to contact the Financial Aid Office to learn more about the variety of programs offered including the Federal Pell Grant, state grants, veterans benefits, and scholarships. The office is located in the Student Services Office. Students needing assistance in applying for financial aid or navigating the processes necessary to remain eligible for aid are welcome to contact financial aid staff by phone, email, or in person during office hours.

Notice of Availability of Institutional and Financial Aid Information

Isothermal Community College distributes consumer information to students through a variety of sources including the Registration Information Booklet, the College Catalog, and the Student Handbook.  For the convenience of students, Isothermal has also created a web page to provide quick and easy access to institutional and financial aid information.  Visit the Consumer Information website for more information.  Printed paper copies are available upon request in Student Services.

Federal Direct Student Loans No Longer Available

In July 2012, the Isothermal Community College Board of Trustees voted to exit the Federal Direct Student Loan program. As of the end of the 2012-13 academic year, Isothermal Community College no longer offers direct student loans.  Scholarships and Pell Grants are still available. Contact the Financial Aid Office at 828-395-4198 with any questions.

Students who borrowed from the Federal Direct Student Loan Program must complete exit counseling when dropping below half-time enrollment.  The exit counseling is available online at www.studentloans.gov ; however, if a student wishes to complete exit counseling in person, they may contact the Financial Aid Office at 828-395-1635.

Summer 2019 Registration Information: 

If you register during March 18 - April 18, 2019, all steps below must be complete by April 18 in order to guarantee your classes do not get purged.  If you are applying for summer 2019, you must complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA.  If you are a returning student and have completed the FAFSA for the previous fall 2018 or spring 2019, you do not need to reapply for summer. You can check to see if your aid is complete and processed through your Patriot Port account.  

Steps to complete your Financial Aid:

  1. Apply for residency and admission, submit all high school transcripts or GED scores, and complete the placement test, if needed.  Students should check with the Admissions Office for further requirements.
  2. Complete and submit the 2018-2019 FAFSA at least two weeks prior to payment being due. FAFSA applications are available online at www.fafsa.gov.  
  3. Complete and return all requested paperwork sent from ICC following your FAFSA application. You can view missing documents or view your award letter on your Patriot Port account.
