Welcome to the Office of Financial Aid!
The mission of the Financial Aid Office is to support the learning college environment through the provision of services that are timely, user-friendly, accessible, and designed to support student learning. Students are encouraged to contact the Financial Aid Office to learn more about the variety of programs offered including the Federal Pell Grant, state grants, veterans benefits, and sholarships. The office is located in the Student Center across the lobby from the Student Services Office. Students needing assistance in applying for financial aid or navigating the processes necessary to remain eligible for aid are welcome to contact financial aid staff by phone, email, or in person during office hours.
Notice of Availability of Institutional and Financial Aid Information
Isothermal Community College distributes consumer information to students through a variety of sources including the Registration Information Booklet, the College Catalog, and the Student Handbook. For the convenience of students, Isothermal has also created a web page to provide quick and easy access to institutional and financial aid information. Visit the Consumer Information website for more information. Printed paper copies are available upon request in Student Services.
Federal Direct Student Loans No Longer Available
In July 2012, the Isothermal Community College Board of Trustees voted to exit the Federal Direct Student Loan program. As of the end of the 2012-13 academic year, Isothermal Community College will no longer offer direct student loans. Since the 2013 summer term has ended, no further loans will be disbursed. Other forms of financial aid including scholarships and Pell Grants are still available. Contact the Financial Aid Office at 828-395-4198 with any questions.
Summer 2014 Deadline Reminder:
Are you a new student planning to register for Summer? If so, payment is due by the end of the week you register. This means that in order for your financial aid to be available to cover your tuition, fees, and books, your financial aid file must be complete by the end of the week that you register. If you are planning to register during last chance registration, your file must also be complete by April 11, 2014 to ensure aid is available to cover tuition and book charges at the start of the 2014 Summer semester.
Steps to complete your Financial Aid:
- Apply for admission, submit all high school transcripts or GED scores, and complete the placement test, if needed.
- Complete and submit the FAFSA at least two weeks prior to payment being due. FAFSA applications are available online at www.fafsa.gov.
- Complete and return all requested paperwork sent from ICC following your FAFSA application.
IMPORTANT: Select the 2013-2014 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov (application does not automatically default to the correct year).
Students should check with the Admissions Office for further requirements.
Students who complete their file after the deadline will have their financial aid file reviewed and processed as quickly as possible, however we cannot ensure that your financial aid will be available at the start of the semester. Initially it is possible that you may be required to pay for your tuition and books out of pocket. If you are eligible, once your file has been processed and your award letter signed, you may qualify for a reimbursement.
