Isothermal Community College Launches Inaugural Careers Electric Summer Electrical Academy

Spindale, NC (June 4, 2026) - Seventeen area high school students are participating in the inaugural Careers Electric Summer Electrical Academy at Isothermal Community College, an innovative eight-week program designed to introduce young people to rewarding careers in the electrical industry.
The academy, which runs from June 1 through July 29, provides high school juniors and seniors age 16 and older with hands-on training, industry instruction, workplace learning opportunities, and valuable certifications. Participants also receive a $2,000 stipend and transportation support while exploring career pathways in the growing electrical trades field.
"This program gives students an opportunity to gain real-world experience, develop in-demand skills, and learn directly from industry professionals," said Dr. Scott Queen, ICC’s vice president of Economic and Workforce Development. "We are excited to partner with Careers Electric to help students discover rewarding careers while building a strong workforce for our region."
Students selected for the inaugural academy are Luke Bailey, Brenda Borbonio-Trinidad, Dylan Brown, Avery Calvert, Jeffrey Camp, Aiden Carpenter, Matthew Clark, Maddox Craig, Peyton Jones, Wyatt Luckadoo, Justin Mira, Daniyel Moreno, Logan Prescott, Ryken Randolph, Isaac Roof, Caleb Sanders, and Simon Sheehan.
The Careers Electric Summer Electrical Academy reflects Isothermal Community College's commitment to workforce development and creating pathways to high-demand careers through experiential learning opportunities.
