SPINDALE (Dec. 17, 2025)— Seven students are ready to hit the road after graduating from Isothermal Community College’s Truck Driver Training Program. The graduation ceremony was held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 4:00 p.m. in the Foundation Performing Arts and Conference Center.
The ceremony kicked off with opening remarks from Mark Franklin, Director of Customized Training and Development, who welcomed graduates, families, instructors, and college leadership. Dr. Scott Queen, Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development, and Dr. Kem Harvey, Dean of Applied Technologies, shared congratulations and highlighted the growing need for skilled truck drivers in our region.
Myron Greene, Truck Driving Coordinator and Lead Instructor, gave the commencement address and introduced the instructors—Joey Hamrick, Eddie Plank, Jeffery Tessnear, and Kimberly Walker—thanking them for their dedication and support in helping students succeed.
Certificates were awarded to Scott Campbell, James Tyler Flynn, Abran Gonzalez, Michael Sanders, Andre Dos Santos, Ruby Watts, and Aaron Weaver. Each graduate is now fully trained and ready to start their careers in the transportation and logistics industry.
Isothermal’s Truck Driver Training Program combines hands-on classroom learning with behind-the-wheel experience to prepare students for commercial driver’s license (CDL) testing and real-world trucking careers. The program supports workforce needs across western North Carolina and the Appalachian region.
Classes for the next session will begin on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026. For more information about the Truck Driver Training Program or to join the waiting list for upcoming classes, contact Myron Greene at 828-395-1576 or mgreene@isothermal.edu.
