SPINDALE (Oct. 26, 2022) – The third session of the History Matters Series will focus on the Revolutionary War in Rutherford County.

The session will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Library Auditorium at Isothermal Community College.

The speaker will be Chivous Bradley, Rutherford County’s official historian. Bradley is a longtime educator who has served on the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners and is a member of the Isothermal Board of Trustees.

He has a vast knowledge of the history of Rutherford County and surrounding areas with a particular interest in the Revolutionary War. He also coordinates the annual 8th grade Revolutionary War event presented by the Overmountain Victory Trail Association at Historic Gilbert Town.

The event will focus on the events leading to the war, then the war itself with a particular focus on what happened in Rutherford County in the days leading up to the Battle of Kings Mountain.

The History Matters Series was developed by staff at the Isothermal Library along with a committee of local historians and educators. The series kicked off in September and will include many future events.
