Rutherford Early College High School - REaCH

Isothermal Community College is in partnership with Rutherford County Schools to offer Rutherford Early College High School.  Each student will learn/experience rigor, relevance, relationships, responsibility, and respect that will equal a high school diploma and Associates Degree at the completion of four years. 

Rutherford Early College High School will prepare students to be future-ready and globally competitive by providing a rigorous, innovative curriculum in a 21st Century learning environment.  Isothermal Community College exists to improve life through learning through a shared commitment; a climate of integrity, accountability, and respect for individuals; a culture of collaboration and communication; diversity and the exchange of ideas; and the elimination of barriers to learning.  Both organizations share a commitment to the well-being and enrichment of their students for future success in a career, further education, and personal enrichment.

Only entry point is rising 9th graders

Credentials

After four years' enrollment commitment:

  • High School Diploma
  • College Associates Degree or other college program

Tuition and Fees

No cost for books or tuition on approved courses for Fall and Spring semesters. 

Prerequisites

  • Meet college requirements to enter college course work
  • Commit for the duration of the four-year program
  • Students must apply for admission in eighth grade and 

Student Population

  • Target diverse population of students
  • Emphasis on students who will be the first to graduate from college in the family
  • Necessary for students to be mature enough to handle a collegiate setting and capable of managing college-level course work

Curriculum

  • Honors High School Course Study
  • Community College Associate's Degree Program of Study. College coursework begins in the freshman year. Most community college credits will be transferable to the universities within the North Carolina system
