Isothermal Community College

Learning College Manual

Emergency and Safety Plans

Purpose

The College has established procedures for various types of emergencies to provide a safe and healthy environment for the Campus Community.

The College defines a major emergency as an event which will adversely affect or disrupt the overall operation of the College, possibly putting the safety of those on campus at risk, and may require outside emergency services.

Although there are set guidelines and procedures for various types of emergencies, everyone affected by this manual must realize no one set of responses can cover every eventuality. Accordingly, in an emergency situation, two general guidelines should be remembered: Do Not Panic!  Call 911 (9-911 from a campus phone) if there is an imminent, life-threatening emergency. Clearly state the location of the emergency to be connected to the local communications center.  For other emergencies call Campus Enforcement at 828-286-5850.
