Lateral Entry Teachers
Isothermal Community College offers many core courses in an online delivery format for lateral entry teachers to help them achieve teaching licensure in the state of North Carolina. Because many of the courses offered are Education courses which have state prerequisites of basic English and reading skills, we require lateral entry teachers to either submit college transcripts showing completion of a college level English course with a grade of “C” or better or college placement test scores in reading and English. To accommodate teachers from all over North Carolina, the placement test can be taken at any community college and the official score report mailed to Isothermal at PO Box 804, Spindale, NC 28160, Attention: Admissions.
Lateral Entry Teachers interested in completing courses at Isothermal must meet the following admissions requirements:
- Submit an application for admission. Please select Occupational Education Certificate (Lateral Entry Teachers) as your desired program of study.
- Submit official college transcripts indicating completion of a college level English course with a grade of “C” or better OR submit official test scores on a college placement test no older than five years old.
