--- Meet EVAN COOPER ---

Hi I'm Evan - and this Evan is a girl! A quote that has made a profound impact on my life is "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" by Lao Tzu. To me, life is a journey of a million miles, crossing paths frequently with others, each person or circumstance leaving a mark. As I reflect upon the past with my time at Isothermal Community College coming to a close, I realize many steps have brought me to where I am today.

When I was a child, I was never far away from a camera, developing an eye for photography at an early age. I would play games with marketing, finding print ads and infomercials fascinating, while other kids played house. I now see that my education through high school, with both private schools and home school, developed necessary critical thinking skills which, coupled with my artistic nature, paved the way for my future college major, Advertising & Graphic Design. Beginning college, I realized even more that developing technique in various media is important and allows for more freedom of expression through these venues. The journey that I am now on seems to be led by the lens of my camera and an airplane ticket, a full tank of gas, or sometimes just being in the moment, carefully capturing little details that would have otherwise passed by unnoticed. The adage "a picture is worth a thousand words" has proven true on my journey – whether in a photo, advertisement, logo design, or illustration.

My photos and designs have placed in regional fairs and have been featured in several promotional materials for Isothermal Community College. Along with my regular jobs plus a full course load, I have been attending Small Business Development Center seminars and networking. I will be graduating Isothermal Community College in summer 2016, and plan on looking for employment doing what I love while also continuing with my current freelance design and photography business.
