SPINDALE (Oct. 20, 2009) - Forty-four students at Isothermal Community College were inducted into the Sigma Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recently.

Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for two-year college students. The organization provides opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.

In order to qualify for membership in Phi Theta Kappa, students are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and to have completed 12 hours of associate-level course study.

The Isothermal students inducted for Fall 2009 are Donald Lee Baker, Nancy Carol Beam, Marnie Justice Beaver, Ashley L. Blankenship, Alison Denise Bright, KC Danielle Brush, Marilyn M. Butler, Suzanne Marie Costner, Katie Margaret Crotts, Diane R. Dezio, Kaylene May Durham, Delta Irene Frazier, Marie D. Funderburke, Beth Marie Gettys, Monriel Jamika Harbison, Melissa Dawn Herold, Sherry Linda Hinson, Hope Marie Hodge, Allison Skinner Hooper, Anthony Lawson Hudson, Jillian Elizabeth Humphries, Emily Ann Israel, Cynthia J. Jarvis, Christopher George Lawrence, Brittany Taylor Levesque, Meriana Joy Matheny, Danny E. McComas, Rocky Clint McMellion, Donna Stott Moore, Brandon Zacchery Murray, Rachelle Elaine Murray, Alicia Marie Myers, Christine Marie Nolan, Michael Everette Osborne, Ricky G. Ramsey, Cory Michael Rice, Charles Ray Roach, Betty Elaine Roper, Karen C. Ruppe, Joyce O. Stacey, Brittany Leigh Upton, Jeanine Marie VanPatten, Andrea Beth Wheeler, and Jessica Renee Yates.

This year’s Phi Theta Kappa officers are Julie Lovelace, president, and Jenny Dalton, vice-president. Both are current PTK members. The officers assisted Bret Watson, the chapter’s faculty advisor, during the ceremony and the reception that followed.

Watson also introduced his two supporting faculty advisors, Noelle Hoyle and Tiffany Cooper.
