Polk skin care business gets help from Isothermal’s SBC

COLUMBUS (Sept. 29, 2008) - A new professional skin therapy business has opened its doors in town after some hard work and a little assistance from the Small Business Center at Isothermal Community College.

Janet Hall is the owner of Reflections Therapeutic Skin Care. Her passion in helping people achieve their goals enabled Hall to open a therapeutic skin care practice right next to the Polk Chamber of Commerce.

Early on, Hall contacted Kim Alexander, director of the Small Business Center, for some help in marketing to the community.

“There is a lot to think about when opening a new business,” said Alexander. “Planning needs to consistently be present throughout all aspects of the business, which includes understanding your market, operations, financials, and writing a business plan.”

Hall’s dedication and perseverance in running a successful business is showing. She recently attended an SBC seminar at Isothermal’s Polk Campus on “How to Start and Operate a Small Business”. Hall said she learned a lot from the three-hour seminar and she is looking forward to attending more. She is also working with a consultant that the SBC hired to help Hall with her marketing efforts.

“These services are provided free of charge by the state of North Carolina in an effort to help small business owners succeed,” said Alexander. “Our passion is in helping people succeed by seeing their dreams become reality.”

Hall offers a variety of body wraps and therapeutic facial treatments for women and men of all ages who wish to maintain or restore the health of the body’s largest organ - the skin.

The premier treatment at Reflections is the Microcurrent Face-lift, a non-invasive technology that tones underlying muscles in the face and neck, improves facial circulation, and re-hydrates the skin for a firmer, smoother, clearer complexion.

“Microcurrent studies performed at the University of Washington indicate a 14 percent increase in the production of natural collagen and a 48 percent increase in natural elastin production after twenty days of treatment,” said Hall. “It is safe and painless, with no undesirable side effects or down time.”

To learn more about the new skin care services call Hall at 828-859-6812, or visit Reflections Therapeutic Skin Care in its new location at 2753 Lynn Rd., Suite B; next door to the Polk County Chamber of Commerce.

Small business owners interested in learning more about the SBC should contact Kim Alexander at 828-286-3636 ext. 390. Upcoming SBC events on the Isothermal Polk Campus include “Forgotten Fundamentals of Effective Leadership” on Thursday, Oct. 9, and “How to Keep Making Money when Others Can’t” on Tuesday, Oct. 14. These services are provided free of charge to residents of Polk County.
