Lead Instructor definition

Each program and/or content area is assigned a lead instructor. Lead instructors are responsible for degree and/or program and/ or content  coordination, curriculum development and review. The duties of a lead instructor may also include such duties as:

Mentoring adjunct faculty
Coordinating advisory board meetings
Yearly assessment coordination and reporting
Assisting with course scheduling (including interdepartmental requests)

In many areas the lead instructor may be the only full-time instructor for a program area. In such cases the role of lead instructor is considered to be a component of the faculty role and therefore does not warrant supplemental pay and/ or release time. In situations where the role of lead instructor requires extensive mentoring, assessment or scheduling responsibilities release time or supplemental pay may be requested by the Department Dean.
