Complete the FAFSA  (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) if possible by March 15 of the previous school year to ensure that the student receive state funds available for which the student qualifies.

bullet

List Isothermal Community College's School code (002934) on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

bullet

Make sure that your Isothermal Admissions file is complete.

bullet

Provide all requested documentation. Your financial aid application cannot be processed without it.  Only the financial aid staff at ICC has access to confidential information.

bullet

All students should file for FAFSA even though they think that they will not qualify because this could qualify the student for various types of Financial Aid Programs.

bullet

Apply early!  It takes about 3-5 weeks for a student's file to be completely processed.  Aid is not complete until the financial aid office is in receipt of a student's signed award letter.  A Student Aid Report mailed to the student does not mean that aid is complete.

bullet

You do not have to be a full-time student to receive aid.

bullet

Only classes required for a student's program of study and developmental classes will count towards enrollment status.

bullet

You may purchase books and supplies against PELL.  Charges can usually be made about one week before classes begin.

bullet

Financial aid students are required to complete attendance sheets and to submit them to the financial aid office.

bullet

If you have a credit balance in your account (after tuition and, if applicable, textbook charges have been paid) you will receive a check on a PELL payday.  Checks may be picked up in the business office.

bullet

If you receive federal financial aid and drop out or withdraw from school during the first 60% of the semester you may be required to repay a percentage of the aid that you received.

bullet

The Pell Grant is divided into semester payments.  The amount  received will be based on the number of credit hours for which the student is enrolled.  The courses must be required in the student's designated curriculum (major).

bullet

A student's award letter shows the amount of Pell Grant they will be eligible to receive at each level of enrollment.

bullet

Enrollment status will be determined at the end of the schedule adjustment period.

bullet

A financial aid student must submit an attendance sheet to the financial aid office before excess funds can be released.
