For me, being an ESL instructor is the essence of being a teacher. A great deal is demanded of the teacher and the student, yet, so much is rewarded in return. After thirty-six years in the business of education, I'm at perhaps the most exciting stage of my career and once again a "student teacher". I have always been thrilled by the rush of "falling in love" with the the teaching experience over and over again with each teachable moment and the "Aha!" that comes with it.
One of my staff was drafted by a student who told her," Come to our class and we will make you a happy teacher."
He is absolutely right.
