2007 Cooperative Learning Training
Track 1: Foundations of Cooperative Learning (Brown Book)
 

This institute provides a solid basis for implementing cooperative learning in the classroom, school, and district.  Participants learn practical procedures for using cooperative learning and a conceptual structure to guide their planning of cooperative lessons and solving of students' teamwork problems.  Cooperative learning procedures will be defined, demonstrated, and modeled.

 

FacilitatorsDr. Kimberly Gold, Donna Harrison and Jo James from Isothermal Community College will be facilitating the Foundations Training. Each facilitator is a certified cooperative learning trainer with over 120 hours of training under Drs. Roger and David Johnson.

Track 2: Advanced Cooperative Learning (Green Book)
(Prerequisite:  Foundations of Cooperative Learning and one year of classroom experience)

Upon completion of the Foundations course and one year of classroom experience, this institute will assist in expanding your growth in developing a balanced “learning-centered” classroom.  Advanced procedures will be defined, demonstrated, and modeled.  The course focuses on the integrated use of formal cooperative learning, informal cooperative learning, cooperative base groups, and academic argument.   

FacilitatorDr. Roger T. Johnson is a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Science Education at the University of Minnesota. He holds an M.A. degree from Ball State University and an Ed.D from the University of California in Berkeley.
