Curriculum
Description
The Building
Construction Technology Curriculum is designed to prepare the
student for a career in the building construction industry. Lecture
courses along with “hands on” construction projects (to include the
construction of a home each year) will provide students with the
knowledge of materials, trends and techniques that are necessary in the
ever-changing building construction industry.
Course work includes basic construction concepts from the beginning of
site work to handing the owner the key for the front door. These courses
include general construction, carpentry, OSHA/Safety, print reading,
building code, construction estimating, project management, surveying,
and statics/strength of materials. Students will also diversify their
knowledge of the construction industry with introductory courses in
electrical wiring, plumbing, masonry and HVAC. We also strive to make
evening courses available for students whose schedules merit the need.
Graduates should qualify for entry-level jobs in any general
construction setting and be able to advance quickly to management
positions such as supervisors, superintendents, project coordinators,
project planners, estimators, and inspectors.
