UNDERAGE ADMISSION INFORMATION SHEET

Admission to Isothermal Community College is typically reserved for students who are 18 years of age or older on the first day of college classes.  Students who are under the age of 18 on the first day of college classes can only be admitted under one of the following circumstances:

 

Complete the Admissions Process at ICC PLUS:

 

1)    Dual/Concurrent Enrollment

  1. Student must be 16 years of age or older.

  2. Student must be concurrently enrolled in 50% of a high school curriculum.

  3. Student must get permission from her/his high school guidance office in the form of a Concurrent Enrollment Course form already signed by a high school official.

  4. Student must get the Course form signed by the Director of Enrollment Management at ICC.

  5. Student must take placement test if interested in classes with prerequisites.

  6. Classes are offered on Isothermal Community College’s campus.

2)     HUSKINS Program

  1. Student must be enrolled in a NC high school.

  2. Student must have prior permission from high school.

  3. Classes are offered on high school campus.

3)      Early High School Graduate

4)      GED or Adult High School Graduate in ICC’s Program 

  1. Any student under the age of 18 who has completed a high school diploma, GED or adult high school diploma is eligible to take classes at ICC.

  2. Complete an application online, indicating the program of study and other required information.

  3. If the GED or adult high school diploma was completed at Isothermal Community College, the student can request an official (in sealed envelope) copy from the Career Center x. 244 (for the GED) or from Mary Ann Head (for the Adult High School Diploma) x. 218.   High school diplomas received anywhere else must be mailed directly from sending institution to Isothermal Community College in the originally sealed envelope.  Once transcripts have arrived, the student can be scheduled for a placement test.

  4. Classes are offered on Isothermal Community College’s campus.

5)      GED or Adult High School Graduate from a program other than at ICC

  1. Students who have graduated from a GED or AHS diploma program somewhere other than at Isothermal Community College must request their official transcript either from the State Office for the GED, or from the college or institution where the Adult High School Diploma was received.

  2. Classes are offered on Isothermal Community College’s campus.

6)      Academically Gifted (under 16 years of age)

As of Fall 2008 this option is no longer available for students.
