RETURNING STUDENT ENROLLMENT

STEP ONE – Check the status of your admissions file at ICC by reviewing the category below that applies to you.

I have not taken a class at ICC in 5 or more years

OR

I applied 12 months ago (or more) but never actually took a class.

The last class I took at ICC was less than 5 years ago.

1. Check with the Admissions Office at ext. 251 to find out if your “paper file” has been shredded. *See below for information about what shredded means and why it occurs.

1. Check with the Admissions Office at ext. 251 to find out the status of your file.  If you are pursuing a new major, we may require additional documentation.  Also, your previous placement test scores are only valid for 3 years.

2. If your file has been shredded, please resubmit all documents required for your program of study. The most common requirements are a new application, official high school transcripts, official college transcripts (if you took classes elsewhere), and placement testing (unless you qualify for a waiver).

2. If any documentation is missing from your file, (transcripts or current placement test scores from another institution etc), have it sent “officially” to the Admissions Office at ICC.  Official means it comes directly to ICC in a sealed envelope from the sending institution.

3. Students will not be able to schedule for the placement test until all other required documentation is first submitted to the Admissions Office.

3. Students will not be able to schedule for the placement test until all other required documentation is first submitted to the Admissions Office.

4. Check this link for information about criteria for an evaluation for placement test waiver.

WHAT DOES ‘SHREDDED’ MEAN? Given the volume of paper files received over the years in Admissions, in combination with the lack of storage space, it is necessary for us to create room for the hundreds of new applications that come in every semester by shredding old paper files.  Please note that even if your file was shredded, any courses you took at ICC in the past are still in the system and transcripts can still be created.  A shredded file simply means that we no longer have any paper documentation from you, including an application, high school or “other” college transcripts, etc.
