Math 060 is a basic math course for college students. The purpose is to provide a strong foundation in math ideas and operations that will prepare you for success in all areas where math concepts are used. Fractions, decimal numbers, percentages and measurements are just a few of the things you will see in this class. If you’ve forgotten things that you haven’t used in a while, or if there were some things you never learned or understood, you have the opportunity to fill in all those gaps in this course. Math 070 is an introductory algebra course for college students. The purpose is to refresh your memory or to fill in gaps in your algebra background, or to introduce you to algebra for the first time. This course is like the foundation of a house – a strong foundation for building higher thinking. Most students taking Math 070 will be going on to another math course. The material you learn in Math 070 is necessary before taking the next course because a firm foundation of the concepts is essential to successfully complete the next level. Math 080 is an intermediate level algebra course for college students. The ideas presented in this course are vital for success in Math 141 or higher. A lot of material is covered in Math 080, so it is important that you keep up with your homework and get help immediately if things start to get foggy. This is a great course – it’s where you really begin to develop the critical thinking skills (emphasis on applications) so important in your next algebra course.
